Memorial for the Unborn
On January 30th 2000, against a backdrop
of Knights of Columbus in full regalia, Father Dan Cody, chaplain of
Council #10850 and pastor of St. Joseph’s along with Father Edward
Booth, state chaplain of the Knights dedicated a memorial for the unborn
in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Knights of Columbus Council #10850, which serve St.
Joseph’s, San Jose, and San Juan Del Rio Catholic Churches, had
commissioned the memorial.
Jacques Aubertin presided over the commissioning
attended by state and district officers of the Knights of Columbus. Also
attending were Ed Todd of the Bereavement Ministry, Peter Prince of
Divine Mercy House, Georgia MacLean of the Respect-Life Committee, and
Steve Connolly of the Cemetery Commission.
The
Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph’s have always taken an active and
leading role in our parish’s pro-life activities. The Knights are
consistently on hand for our prayer marches in front of the abortion
clinics, Rosaries for Life, and other demonstrations. We are also blest
to have the Squires of Columbus, an organization of teenage boys
following the fine example set by these Knights as they join us at the
picket lines on first Saturdays. We Thank God for these men.
